“Oh hey, by the way, this trip is actually not for work…it’s to spend time with a girl I met,” I told my parents as they dropped me off at DFW airport just before taking off for Guadalajara, Mexico.“You met a girl? In another country??” Their reaction, in a nutshell. For a guy who had been very selective with dating, it seemed unbelievable. I could barely believe it myself. But, something about it—something about her—just kept telling me to find out more. And so, I did.The story of how Dani and I met is very improbable. How do people from different countries meet? And not on the internet, for that matter? Step 1 of this process came in December 2021, about a year before we even knew of each other’s existence. I sat in my car painstakingly weighing the pros and cons of taking a leap of faith to leave the Finance world at AT&amp;T to pursue a Chief of Staff role in Customer Care, a part of the company, industry, and world I knew nothing about. Something pulled me, so I leapt.Fast forward a year and I’m visiting parts of our team in other countries all around the world, a couple of which were in Mexico. During my first trip to Mexico City, we were getting the tour of the building and meeting people along the way as we always do when first getting into town. I turn the corner to head into our meeting room for the day when a bubbly girl in a bright blue suit ambushes me with a hug and the type of greeting you’d get from a decades’ long friend. Who was that? She wasn’t part of the itinerary of presentations that day, but she made an impression—at least on me.The next time I saw her was later that day at dinner. We sat at a long table set for about 20 of us. As usual, I took a seat at the end of the table, giving up the center for my boss and whoever wanted to sit next to him. He and I saw each other every day—I didn’t need the spotlight for the night. In, she swoops. Blue suit girl sits right next to my boss, carrying the conversation from the center of the dinner table all night. She was smart. She made an impression. But, she wasn’t too concerned about me at the end of the table. Oh, well. We lived in different countries, anyways. I went home with some questions I figured would never be answered.A few months later, I’m back in Mexico for work—this time, for a unique trip to Cancun. “Oh sure…you’re going to Cancun for work,” my friends teased. But I really was! We were hosting a trip of a lifetime at a resort for the top performers of the prior year and I was on the planning committee. So was she. Neither of us thought much of it at the time.On that first day, we evaluated the situation at the resort and handled our prep activities quickly to free up the afternoon. With some time to spare, we all met up as a team at a pool overlooking the ocean. At some point, the blue suit girl (red suit for the pool, actually) and I naturally broke off from the rest and talked, getting to know each other for the first time. We talked for an hour at one pool, then another hour at another. For the rest of the trip, we seemed to look for one another at every turn. She acted like she needed help for a speech, so I gave her notes. She laughed at me doing math when organizing gifts for our guests. It seemed like we were connecting, but I decided it was time for a real test. At our first team dinner, there were two tables, so I picked the smaller one that my boss wasn’t sitting at—again, letting others get some facetime. I knew she was tactical about her seat choice from the first time we met. Nevertheless, this time, instead of parking herself right by my boss, she ditched the head table for a spot by me. Hm… The next few meals were more of the same. If one of us sat in a chair, the other followed closely and sat next by. We were together the rest of the trip. There was even a little water current incident where I valiantly stepped in to drag her back to shore, saving her life. Her words, not mine.On the last night of the trip, she looked at me, teary-eyed, and said, “promise that you’ll remember me,” as if it was the last time we’d see each other. I said, “how could I forget?” asking her to consider the possibility that maybe we could continue getting to know each other from afar just to see what could happen. She decided to give me a chance. Fast forward through two months of nightly phone calls and we get back to where this story started: when I was on the way for my first non-work trip to Mexico. Another month or two later, and she was on her way to Dallas. From that point forward, we just kept scheduling trips, talking for hours on the phone (sometimes in Spanish for my practice), and allowed ourselves to keep seeing what might happen.After about a year and a half, we sat down and decided that 2 countries was 1 too many for us. In the coming months, I’d talk to her family, put together proposal plans, and luck into securing the best photographer in Guadalajara to capture the moment (search credits go to my sister). The proposal story is for another web page at another time. And now, just about a year after I bought the ring, blue suit girl is now Daniela Correa Mansour: my wife, US resident, permanent dinner date, primary driver of my (our) new car, passionate American football fan, and proud owner of a custom-fitted bowling ball.We could have never written this story ourselves and are so thankful for all of the support we’ve gotten from our friends, family, and God along the way. One of the best friends of the Groom since 6th grade and future neighbor. Parker and I bonded quickly over basketball, school, board games, having 4-hour long conversations while looking in the same direction, and calling ourselves "Italiano" in Spanish class (paid off for my future). We've gone through everything together as we took on the challenge of coaching elementary school kids, visiting each other in college, and living together for 4 years as we entered adulthood...until we conveniently both found our soulmates right before living apart.

Bride's cousin that feels more like a sister + Official Emergency Contact. She is a role model, a source of strength when I feel weak, a spark of happiness when I fail to find one. Andrea, myself and "Kiki" (as we call her), have been a trio that nothing can and nothing will separate.

Agent of chaos and yin to Groom's yang. Jason can always hold over Parker that he had one more class with me (7 classes) when we met at age 11, which he successfully got our school counselor to replicate at age 15 after joining me on the Cross Country team and needing to switch his class schedule to mirror mine. Jason is always willing to compete in whatever game or contest, which is great, considering he is unphazed by repetitively losing. His unwavering quest for life is admirable, as I somehow both always know and never know what he's up to at the same time. He and Dani are probably the only people I can go on a 24-day Europe trip with and still be ready for more.

Bride's best friend from College, soul mates and book fanatics. We send each other 5 min+ long audio messages daily and we have a podcast called "Cronicas de Reinas y Asesinas", because our audio messages were not long enough to gossip about our favorite books. She is the most caring friend. There is nothing I could ever tell her that would make her judge me. She is The Glitter to my Taylor Swift. She is a Gift from God.

Closest cousin in age and Father to Groom's Godson. Koury has always been just a half step ahead of me in life and we like to compare notes and help each other along the way. He enjoys the finer things in life and is interested in deep conversations and a good laugh. His son has recently informed me that his dad is "ripped now."

Bride's new sister! Mariam is Abe's sister and we have bonded over being the eldest daughter. She is a true example of someone who loves family and loyalty. Mar is also an inspiration and one of the hardest working women I know, especially convenient when any of us are sick and can call Dr. Mar on speed dial. Thank you for your endless baking goods and the pleasure of tasting your cooking every time you are in town.

Brother of the Bride and first brother of the Groom! Raul was the first family member of Dani's that I met and it quickly became clear that we are two flavors of the same kind of chip, if you know what I'm saying. We are both habitual hobbyists and love to learn and perfect new crafts. He always stays busy, loves playing and listening to music, and has a need for speed. Ask him about something related to physics or philosophy if you really want to get him going. I would be remiss if I didn't include that Dani loves her Irish twin to the moon and back (ask him to calculate how much that is).

High School best friend, adventure companion and making the bride laugh champion. She has been a constant love in my life and we have been through each others' different life updates, changes and incredibly embarrassing situations.

Retired filmmaker, 2nd Doctor on this list, and fellow curly-haired cousin to the Groom. John B is sort of a cross between my sister and me, moving from one theological conversation with me to a medical one with my sister. While he may be buttoned up in a white coat by day, watch out for his moves on the dance floor by night.

Finding friends in your adulthood is not easy, but she made it seem so. Ale is the kindest, most loving soul. She has demonstrated what the word "loyalty" means when you put it into action. She has given me the best hugs when I needed them the most. We have shared secrets, and told each other multiple times how nothing can break us.

Cousin of the Groom and fellow washed-up high school athlete. Wesley and I used to crave competition whenever we were together as kids, always counting on each other to bring a football or deck of cards to keep ourselves busy for hours. To this day, he'll always ask me what iPhone games I've been playing recently to see if I have anything new for him. He is the closest thing I've had to a little brother.

Bride's adulthood gift. My friendship with Victoria is one that came when I least expected it. We instantly clicked together. Her, Ale and I have a connection that many people will never have the blessing of having. I can call and she will answer. Victoria is my fashion icon, my determination role model--nothing is impossible for her. I am lucky to have her by my side.

Childhood Best Friend of the Groom. From kindergarten, Grant and I used to spend entire days at each other's houses, competing in basketball, wiffleball, video games, nerf wars, and testing his dad's new board games. We set records shagging foul balls at minor league baseball games and designed our summers around what sports camps we wanted to go to together each week. To this day, Grant calls his own dad what I used to call him growing up (¨Mr. Norman¨) and his parents call their son what my dad used to call him (¨G¨).

Lexi entered the bride's life when they were both in 8th grade, and they never let go of each other's hands since then, even through distance. Lexi, who lived in Oregon, became a vital and important part of my life since the day I met her. We have one of those friendships that can withstand time and distance. We have both seen our worst and best days and will forever travel miles for a hug and fangirl about trashy TV.

Childhood Best Friend of the Groom. Keon lived 2 doors down from Grant and the 3 of us were constantly together. Keon and I got particularly close in middle school when we would talk about anything and everything and bond over our Middle Eastern heritage. I can always count on Keon for a unique perspective or random thought-provoking question that no one has ever asked me. When I think about committed, loyal friendship, Keon is at the top of that list.

Bride's Cousin. She is a ray of sunshine in my life. She enables the happiest version of myself. She is honest, she loves life, she is a sister in Christ and loves to be the most positive person in the room. I love to surround myself with women like her that are unstoppable, hard working and put family first.

College Roommate of the Groom and world's best hugger. Ryan and I were randomly assigned as freshman year roommates in Morrissey Manor at Notre Dame. He was a large, football playing, eventual heavyweight boxing champion from Minnesota and I was a thin runner and basketball guard from Texas--we were very different, but I couldn't have asked for a better supporter and roommate. Ryan is a real life teddy bear and we bond over our shared love of food, at least as long as there's enough available for me to get a few bites in before Ryan has already inhaled it. Ryan's wife, Shannon, likes to keep me updated on his annual hot dog intake and loves when I constantly sing his praises.

Fun fact: both sets of our parents went to Puerto Vallarta for their honeymoons and even stayed at the same exact hotel, just 5 years apart! "Oh, por cierto, este viaje en realidad no es por trabajo... es para pasar tiempo con una chica que conocí", les dije a mis padres mientras me dejaban en el aeropuerto DFW justo antes de despegar hacia Guadalajara, México."¿Conociste a una chica? ¿En otro país?" Su reacción, en pocas palabras.Para un chico que había sido muy selectivo al salir con alguien, parecía increíble. Apenas podía creerlo yo mismo. Pero algo al respecto, algo sobre ella, seguía diciéndome que descubriera más. Y así lo hice.La historia de cómo Dani y yo nos conocimos es muy improbable. ¿Cómo se conoce gente de diferentes países? ¿Y no por internet, por cierto?El primer paso de este proceso ocurrió en diciembre de 2021, aproximadamente un año antes de que siquiera supiéramos de la existencia del otro. Estaba sentado en mi coche sopesando minuciosamente los pros y los contras de dar un salto de fe para dejar el mundo de las finanzas en AT&amp;T y asumir un puesto de "Chief of Staff" en Atención al Cliente, una parte de la empresa, industria y mundo sobre la que no sabía nada.
